Hiking Tour of the Franklin & Ogdensburg Area

The New Jersey Midland Railroad Historical Society in conjunction with the Ogdensburg Historical Society will sponsor a lecture and hiking tour of the Franklin and Ogdensburg areas.

Registration will begin at 9:00AM at the Old School House & Firehouse Museum, 6 Passaic Ave, Ogdensburg, NJ (park in school parking lot). Light refreshments, historical displays and a brief lecture of historical aspects of the area will begin our day. We will then depart the museum to explore the Hanford Branch of the NYS&W and the old coal storage area.

Upon returning to the museum, we will break for lunch. Lunch is on your own. After lunch, we will examine the Franklin Junction area and the “Backwards Tunnel”. We will then have a two hour guided tour of the Sterling Hill Mine & Museum. The mine tour is optional. Cost is $9.50 payable upon entrance to Sterling Hill.
